Fossilised Wood Lidded Cup
£75.00
From the Undercliff, Island Collection, 2024
Dimensions
H;9cm, ø10cm
Materials These pieces are made in a blend of stoneware and wild clay from the landslip below my studio. Finished with a wild sand slip and two ash glazes. The first glaze uses fossilised wood that’s brought up by a local fisherman from the bottom of the English Channel. The second uses seaweed from the bay below my studio. The wild sand slip is formed of landfall on the Undercliff. All materials are sourced by myself or a local fisherman just below my studio.
Techniques All pieces are hand-thrown
Care Please hand wash with warm water, these are one-off art pieces with marks of fossilised wood and shells which are slightly rough to touch. They may have intentional gashes in the clay especially in the cliff ridge series. The metal will continue to develop a patina and bleed into the ceramic over time this is intentional and can be preserved with a dry cloth and beeswax.
